ギリシア神話に登場するアルゴスの美貌の王女・ダナエは、黄金の雨に変化したゼウスとの間に英雄ペルセウスをもうけました。上段にゼウス、下段にダナエを描き、その物語のワンシーンを表しています。

二科展への出展作でもあり、大勢の作品の中に展示された自分の絵画を客観視したことでも自分自身の中で思い入れのある作品です。あの頃を思い出すと、私はいろんなことが腑に落ちませんでした。誰かに認められる為に描くということそのものが許せず、それでも評価されなくては何も始まらず、ちぐはぐな感情で出品した作品でした。私はこの作品を永いこと愛しています。私の作品群の中でも特に古い作品で、しばらく非売品にしていたほど私自身がこの作品に執着していました。

Danae, a beautiful princess of Argos in Greek mythology with Zeus, who was transformed into a golden rain. Zeus is depicted in the upper section and Danae in the lower section, representing a scene from that story.

It was also my entry in the Nika Exhibition, and it is a work that holds a special place in my own heart, as I objectively saw my painting displayed amongst the many other works. When I think back to those days, many things did not add up for me. I could not allow myself to paint in order to be recognized by someone else, and yet, nothing would start without recognition, so I exhibited this work with mixed feelings. I have loved this work for a long time. It is one of the oldest works in my portfolio, and I was so attached to it that I kept it for a while as a non-sale item.
